2003 – 2007 6.0L Powerstroke

The 6.0L Powerstroke diesel succeeded the 7.3L oil-burning V-8 and was Ford’s answer to stricter emissions regulations. It was also a strategic move in the evolving power battle raging between Power Stroke, Cummins, and Duramax.
With an upgraded turbocharger featuring variable-geometry, upgraded intercooler, & newly designed HEUI injectors the Ford 6.0L Powerstroke engine produced 325 horsepower & 570 lb-ft torque.
However certain parts were prone to failure, including the oil cooler, EGR cooler, and high-pressure oil pump, among others. There was a resulting perception of the engine as being unreliable, which impacted its reputation. Ford ultimately abandoned it in 2007.
